It's a party
Scouting out the Clerk-Recorder's office the day before our wedding, we came across a crowd from the local Unitarian Universalist congregation in San Luis Obispo. They were offering roses and cake to all those getting married on the first day of marriage equality in California, and their pastor was performing ceremonies on request. When they learned we weren't getting married until the next day, they still offered us roses and cake.
